The active ingredient is loratadine. Each tablet contains 10mg loratadine. The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, maize starch and magnesium stearate. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
You should not use Clarinaze Allergy Control if you:
Are allergic (hypersensitive) to mometasone furoate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed above)
Have an untreated infection in your nose, such as herpes, as it can worsen the infection
Have recently had an operation on your nose or injured your nose. Do not use Clarinaze Allergy Control until your nose has healed
Are under 18 years of age
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Clarinaze Allergy Control if you:
Are pregnant or breastfeeding or trying to conceive
Have, or have ever had, tuberculosis
Have any other infection
Taking any other corticosteroid medicines, either by mouth or injection
Have cystic fibrosis
While using Clarinaze Allergy Control, speak to your doctor or pharmacist if:
You have taken it for more than 3 months
Your immune system is not functioning well and you have difficulty fighting infection, and have come into contact with anyone who has measles or chickenpox. You should avoid contact with anyone who has these infections.
You have a nose or throat infection
You experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances
Claritin® products contain the active ingredient loratadine. Claritin® is not the same as Benadryl®, Zyrtec®, Allegra® or Xyzal®, which all contain different active ingredients.
Some medicines may increase the effects of Clarinaze Allergy Control, and your doctor may wish to monitor you carefully if you are taking those medicines, including some medicines for HIV such as ritonavir and cobicistat.
Talk to your pharmacist before using Clarinaze Allergy Control if you are taking any prescribed corticosteroid medicines, including eczema creams, asthma inhalers, injections, nasal sprays and eye or nose drops. Some people suffer undesirable effects such as joint or muscular pain, weakness and depression when they discontinue oral or injected corticosteroids. You may also seem to develop other allergies, such as itchy, watering eyes or patches of red and itchy skin. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you develop any of these.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take other medicines whilst using Clarinaze Allergy Control, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
The usual dose is two sprays into each nostril, once a day. You may reduce this to one spray per nostril each day once your nasal symptoms are under control. Use the lowest possible dose to control your symptoms. Do not use more than four sprays per day, and do not use more than the recommended dose.
Like all medicines, Clarityn Tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. For adults and children over the age of 12, the most commonly reported side effects are:
Drowsiness
Headache
Increased appetite
Difficulty sleeping
For children aged under 12, the most commonly reported side effects are:
Headache
Nervousness
Tiredness
The following side effects are very rare and may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people, and have also been seen during the marketing of loratadine:
Severe allergic reaction (including swelling)
Dizziness
Convulsion
Fast or irregular heartbeat
Nausea (feeling sick)
Dry mouth
Upset stomach
Liver problems
Hair loss
Rash
Tiredness
The frequency of the following side effect is unknown:
For the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (for example, hayfever ), such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose and burning or itchy eyes. Clarityn Tablets may also help to relieve the symptoms of urticaria (itching and redness), often known as hives or nettle rash. The effects of each tablet can last for a full day.
Like all medicines, Clarinaze Allergy Control can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Immediate hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions may occur after using this product. These reactions may be severe. Stop taking Clarinaze Allergy Control and seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms such as:
Swollen face, tongue or pharynx
Trouble swallowing
Hives
Wheezing or difficulty breathing
Stop taking the medicine and tell your doctor if you experience:
Eye problems such as pain or blurred vision
Nasal problems such as pain and/or persistent bleeding
Common side effects of taking this medicine, that may affect up to 1 in 10 people, are:
Headache
Sneezing
Nose bleeds
Sore nose or throat
Ulcers in the nose
Respiratory tract infection
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from available data):
Increase in pressure to the eg (glaucoma) and/or cataracts causing visual disturbances
Damage to the partition in the nose that separates the nostrils
Clarinaze Allergy Control is used to treat the nasal symptoms of hayfever (also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis ) and perennial allergic rhinitis. It can help reduce inflammation (swelling and irritation of the nose), sneezing, itching and a blocked up or runny nose.
You can get Claritin-D® at the pharmacy counter without a prescription in most states. Applicable laws and regulations specify identification requirements and quantity limits.
